BCT Apprentice Caters for International Firm

Big congratulations to Kayleigh from our BCT Apprenticeship Scheme.

Her performance and achievements have been outstanding; she has done 3 buffets for a National provider for Mental Health first aid training and she has just catered 3 buffets for Fujifilm- a huge international company;after holding one catering service they immediately booked another as the service was excellent.

“Your catering is excellent- the people efficient and polite” Robert Fenny- Procurement Manager- Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies.

Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies are our local neighbours and the service we provided for them will help benefit the Billingham community as any profits made from the catering service we offer goes back into the community to deliver activities for children, young people and their families.

Kayleigh is producing a high quality service with great success and accomplishment. When asked how she felt about these achievements she said she was “so proud to have achieved so much.”

I love working for BCT catering, I have learnt so much and my cooking skills have improved vastly especially with buffets and presentation skills.”

BCT Managing Director Paul Burgum said ” Kayleigh has been an absolute breath of fresh air for everybody, myself included. Exhibiting a work ethic that many experienced Chef’s would struggle to match. We have recently heard that Kayleigh is hoping to move to Australia and we are looking forward to supporting her in achieving her goals”.

Kayleigh came to us after leaving a firm where all she did was put pasta and sandwiches in boxes, like a factory job. Now she can cook our full menu on her own and is working as a commis chef.

She only joined the company at the beginning of October 2011 but has kept pushing herself to make sure she delivers the best she can. She is also teaching other apprentices skills within the kitchen which is outstanding considering she has only been here three months. She offered advice to Jordon- a new apprentice starting for BCT, explaining that at first its tough, “washing pots and peeling spuds  but if you work hard and put the effort in you will learn new skills and progress far.”

A big well done to Kayleigh, keep up the good work!
