A MAN who plans to walk 1,000 miles across Italy for charity now has a new date for the adventure.<\/b>\u00a0<\/p>\n

\"Paul<\/a>Paul Burgum, 34, a former Hartlepool College of Further Education student, had hoped to take on the challenge not long after completing the Great North Run.<\/p>\n

But the task has now been set to start on Friday, December 27, said his friend Ian Richardson.<\/p>\n

And Ian urged Mail<\/span><\/a> readers to help with the challenge.<\/p>\n

He said Paul still needed a \u00a3300 expedition tent, \u00a3150 sleeping bag and \u00a3400 for flights.<\/p>\n

Ian said: \u201cIf people could donate or lend some equipment, that would be a great help as the more support he receives in donations of equipment, the more he can raise in sponsorship.\u201d<\/p>\n

But for anyone thinking walking across Italy is a step too far, Paul is no stranger to pushing himself hard.<\/p>\n

Last year, he walked from Monaco to Billingham and he\u2019s previously walked from the Orkney Islands back to Teesside.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s challenge will raise money for the Jo and Mya Memorial<\/span><\/a> Fund.<\/p>\n

Billingham-born Paul, a youth worker, has relatives from the Hartlepool area.<\/p>\n
