There will also be live music and music tuition every day.

Staff and volunteers from BCT Aspire will be running the cafe and the morning, afternoon and evening youth events, which are all free.

“A lot of people really care about this town and money isn’t the driver for them,” said Paul.

Cllr Royce Sandbach was among those attending the official re-launch of the cafe on Wednesday evening.

“It should never have been closed,” he said. “It’s important for people using the park and it’s somewhere for the kids to come over the summer. It’s also good for the volunteers who are gaining work experience.”

BCT Aspire and Billingham Town Council hope the cafe could become a permanent facility for park users.

Executive officer at the council Diane Rickaby said: “People being aware of the cafe will attract more funding so hopefully the long-term plan will be to keep it open.”

For more details about the cafe and activities log on to bctaspire.org.uk or www.billinghamtowncouncil.co.uk.

Article from the Evening Gazette – 27 August 2012 by Naomi Corrigan

Link to Article

PEOPLE from Billingham toasted the reopening of a community cafe with a cuppa and some live music.
