New Parents & Carers Coffee Morning

Parents and Carers of Young People with Behavioural Problems, ASD and Mental Health Problems.

BCT Aspire are happy to be working with Jane Shorttle to hold a consultation event for parents and carers of children and young people with behavioural problems, ASD, ADHD and mental health problems.

 This informal group will meet weekly on a Monday at 10.00 am till 12.00pm. It is an opportunity for parents and carers to meet and share their experiences and problems with other people who live similar lives.

 The main aims of the group are to understand people’s issues and look at what support they actually need, all within an empathetic environment. The group will signpost to further support and also link with BCT’s events and social activities. There will also be volunteer opportunities for both parents and children.

 The group will be ran by Jane Shorttle. Jane has five children and also suffers with Psoriatic Arthritis. Four of Jane’s children have been diagnosed with ASD and is aware of the many problems that can exist.

 ‘There is a great need within the town of Billingham for more locally bases support which I hope this group will go towards fulfilling in some small way.’

 Managing Director of BCT Aspire Paul Burgum said;

It is fantastic to be able to support Jane in setting up this group in Billingham. Sometimes small things can make all the difference to someone who is having a hard time in life. Jane is a very inspirational person and we are looking forward to supporting her and the group.
