Prepare for the SIRF Community Carnival

BCT are taking part in the SIRF 2017 community carnival this year and have some great sessions coming up to help you prepare for the Carnival.

The SIRF Community Carnival takes place on Saturday 5 August at 12pm and is sure to be a highlight of SIRF17.

It’s a fun and engaging way for groups, their families and visitors to join in the celebration, soak up the carnival atmosphere and join the after show party down on the Riverside.

Schools and youth & community groups of all ages have been invited to get involved in helping to create this year’s carnival. Together with a creative team of professional artists and musicians, communities will unite to create the Tees Valley’s largest community celebration.

SIRF17 offer participating groups free workshops with an artist to create fantastic costumes or flags for the parade, as well as opportunities to work with local musicians and choreographers. We also encourage local performance and sports groups to get involved in the event.

The theme of this year’s parade is Fizz Bang Pop! A huge celebration of SIRF’s 30th Birthday!

Suggested sessions are:

  • Urban Kaos Dance Group – Wednesday 19th July 6-8pm
  • Arts Designer Shirley Wells – Thursday 20th July 6-8pm (Making costumes)
