Big Challenges To Achieve Our Dreams

Tony02As BCT Aspire continues to build its programme of youth and community activities, we are aiming with the help of our friends to begin our most ambitious fundraiser yet – towards our very own minibus.

The campaign is being supported by (among others) …

  • Legendary Northeast Fundraiser Tony the Fridge with his epic 100 Great North Runs in 100 days (whilst carrying his trusty 43kg Smeg Fridge!), https://localgiving.org/fundraising/100greatnorthruns
  • Queensway Dental Clinic with the chance to win VIP tickets to watch Middlesbrough vs Chelsea in the Premier League.
  • Meredith Ashford – Running the Kielder Marathon in October

Now that BCT is running 3 youth sessions a week, plus the Duke of Edinburgh Awards scheme, and all with a 100% voluntary delivery team, we are trying to overcome one final big barrier to running many more activities and affordable trips – by fundraising towards a minibus.

Our costs are kept extremely low by working hard to generate income through our events work, session fees, and of course fundraising and only using volunteers for all our weekly sessions. But with our own minibus we believe we can offer even more activities that are affordable to all. (The cost of transport is often a restrictive factor in our planning of activities, as it is key to our approach that we remain affordable to all).

The campaign is being headed by our good friend and supporter Tony Phoenix Morrison aka Tony the Fridge, who is a friend of BCT founder Paul Burgum and whose son Rocco now regularly attends our sessions. Tony has just passed day 50 in his epic challenge of running 100 Great North Runs in 100 days –  donations can be made through his Local Giving page in support of BCT Aspire CIC.

Tony Phoenix Morrison said “I have seen the work of BCT Aspire first had with my own son attending. It’s inspiring and I am pleased to be able to support it anyway I can.”

We have also received an amazing bonus with support from local Billingham Dentists – Queensway Dental Clinic, who have kindly donated a pair of Middlesbrough tickets for the game vs Chelsea at the Riverside in November. The tickets will be raffled, with anybody donating over £5 to BCT via Tony’s page automatically entered into the raffle.

Coral Milner of Queensway Dental Clinic said “We are delighted to be able to gift a pair of match day tickets to BCT Aspire to help raise funds for the tremendous work that they do in our local community.”

The minibus will also become an asset of the community with BCT Aspire linking up with the local church to mean that it can be used for their many community sessions within the town and the surrounding areas.

Reverend Bill Braviner said “I find it such a privilege and blessing to be working with BCT Aspire to offer the young people of our community fantastic opportunities in personal development, learning new skills, and having great experiences. This is a big part of what makes Billingham such a great place to live!”
