Following on from our launch event which was attended by numerous young people and parents we will be starting our programme with the first session on 1st March between 6.30 & 8pm at the BCT Den, Billingham Synthonia Club. We still have some places available which are  open to children aged 14 and above.

The programme  will take place at the BCT Den, Billingham Synthonia Club on Tuesday nights.

The Duke of Edinburgh Awards is a globally accepted award that is looked favorably on by both further education providers and employers. The programme will be ran by BCT founder Paul Burgum who’s expeditions have encompassed walking the length of Europe unsupported and a passionate supporter of young people.

The programme will run every Tuesday evening between 6.30pm to 8pm which will include one hour work on their D of E award and a further section of working on general aspirations such as life skills, making our dreams happen, plus visits from aspirational speakers who will be supporting the young people.

To complete a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, young people volunteer in their communities, learn a skill, get fit and plan and undertake an expedition, fulfilling six to 18 months of challenging activity. Through this sustained, meaningful activity, young people develop key life and employability skills, such as self-management, problem solving, team working, communication and confidence.

All our children, parents, volunteers and long term supporters

BCT founder Paul Burgum said ” This is an amazing opportunity for local children to gain a really great award that i am sure will stay with them a lifetime. I personally know what the outdoors can do for a person and also learning to look after others and working as a team. I can’t thank all the people above for helping us get the programme started, i am sure it will be a whole lot of fun and obviously being me a whole lot of graft”.

Costs for the programme are as follows:
Weekly Session Cost: £3 includes group meal and supports running of BCT Aspire CIC.
One Off Registration Fee: £17 directly to D of E.

Further to this the children will require suitable outdoor clothing, this does not have to be fancy or expensive.

DISCRETIONARY FUNDING : BCT has always looked to support all children so if any of the above fee’s are an issue, please speak to Paul directly who will discuss support for your child.
