BCT Aspire supporting Nightstop Teesside !

Nightstop Teesside is a voluntary organisation working on behalf of homeless young people based in Redcar since 1997.

Nightstop provides emergency accommodation for homeless young people aged 16-25 in the homes of trained volunteers for between 1-3 nights.  …

Young people who come from all backgrounds of life and find themselves thrown out due to family disputes, fleeing abuse or rising financial difficulties making it harder to find a home. Nightstop provides them with a bed for the night, an evening meal, breakfast in the morning, the chance to have a bath/shower and to do some washing.

We currently operate throughout Redcar, East Cleveland, Middlesbrough, Stockton-on-Tees and Hartlepool. However Nightstop is under threat of closure due to lack of funding and could be accommodating their last homeless young people in February 2013 when funds run out.

WE NEED YOUR HELP

Nightstop Teesside is working with local councils, businesses and agencies in the area to raise awareness of this situation and we need your help.

On Saturday 26th January 2013, Nightstop Teesside will be undertaking the areas biggest homelessness event in Redcar High Street, with local people from all walks of life taking part in the High Street Sleep Out.

NB: Please note that Nightstop Teesside offices have moved and are within The Junction, 19 Station Road, Redcar TS10 1AN.

With news spreading across the whole of the area and news media coverage the aim is to raise enough awareness and funds to save Nightstop from closure. As once closed the risk of rough sleepers on the streets is what the area will start to see more.  The event will highlight the picture of homelessness. Sleeping bags, cardboard boxes, jumpers, coats, wooly hats, hot drinks and soup are just the tip of what this event will see
